CLINICAL NURSE MANAGER 1

Job Description & Person Specification

Introduction: The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland aims to empower people with intellectual disabilities / autism to live the lives they choose. Our focus is on forming a partnership with each individual and their family, enabling them to design their own service so that they can enjoy a real life in a real place with a healthy balance of supports. We wish to create opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities to have social roles in their communities and to have the chance to form real friendships.

Location: Limerick Area

Reporting Relationship: Reporting to Manager

Remuneration: €54,437- €64,109 pro-rata

Hours of Work: 75/75 hours per fortnight.

Annual Leave: As per contract of employment

Notice period: As per contract of employment

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate in preparing, implementing and evaluating budget and service plans for their area.
  2. Play a central role in maintaining a safe environment for clients, staff and visitors.
  3. Be forefront in the implementation and review of the Person Centred Planning Process.
  4. Encourage evidence based practice, using a care planning approach to client care.
  5. Co-operate in managing all resources – including nursing and non-nursing staff within an agreed budget.
  6. In consultation with the Manager and other disciplines, implement and assess quality management programmes.
  7. Prepare rosters and arrange relief cover as required.
  8. Be supportive to staff in the area.
  9. Be involved in the up-keep of client files.
  10. Prepare attendance returns.
  11. Provide support to the manager and to deputise in his/her absence.
  12. Attend meetings as required.
  13. Carry out any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Manager or the Director of Services or his delegate.
  14. Be aware of the organisation's safety, health and welfare at work statements and ensure that policies and procedures associated with same are adhered to at all times.
  15. Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time. As duties and responsibilities of any post in the Services are likely to change with the ongoing needs of service users, staff are expected to have a high level of flexibility, a willingness and an ability to develop new approaches to their work. As part of this environment and for their own self-development, staff are required to participate in on-going training.
  16. You are required to establish and maintain relationships with the individuals who use our services that are based on respect and equality and that promote their independence.

Due to the constantly changing needs of individuals who use the services and the constantly changing environment in which services are being provided all staff are expected to have a high level of flexibility and an ability to modify their approaches based on the needs of the individuals who use the services and the requirements of the service delivery environment. This job description may therefore evolve over time.

The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland, Limerick Region, has a Regional Advocacy Council made up of individuals who use the services. They believe that people who use the services should be involved in choosing frontline staff and in identifying the key responsibilities and person specifications for all staff.
