As a key member of the senior nursing management team, the CNM2 will demonstrate managerial and leadership skills that facilitate effective communication with colleagues and staff in the hospital. The position requires a strategic approach to the development of services and structures, embracing continuous quality improvement and the management of changes necessary to achieve organisational objectives.Key Responsibilities:OperationsManage the overall daily functions of the ward taking responsibility for the safe delivery and co-ordination of nursing services for patients, ensuring effective, efficient and quality specialist nursing care.Plan, develop and monitor human and budget resource plans to ensure an effective and efficient service.Ensure that nursing care is based on the latest research findings and constitutes best practice.Develop close links with other healthcare facilities relevant to the delivery and enhancement of services.Monitor complaints and investigate any nursing and clinical complaints, taking corrective and preventative action as appropriate.Facilitate effective communication with patients, relatives, visitors and multi-disciplinary team as necessary ensuring patient confidentiality is respected and maintained.Identify opportunities for the development of services that will improve the care of patients.Ensure that systems for the provision of clinical and non-clinical services are satisfactory and that they are timely and economically utilised.Undertake an annual review of nursing services including the preparation of an annual report.Ensure that all staff within the ward are familiar with the plan for management of critical incidents.Leadership and People ManagementProvide a high level of professional and clinical leadership.Evaluate and manage the implementation of best practice policy and procedures.Provide clinical and management leadership for Staff Nurses and ensure an effective learning environment for the multidisciplinary team.Promote an environment that is conducive to the development of best practice, enhances staff retention and promotes good industrial relations.Ensure that all new nursing and support staff in the ward receive an adequate orientation and induction programme.Provide a duty roster that ensures resources are deployed effectively and efficiently.Establish a formal mechanism for communication among the nursing team.Actively manage absenteeism and adhere to HR policies.Quality Improvement and Risk ManagementAdhere to and contribute to the development and maintenance of nursing standards, protocols and guidelines consistent with the highest standards of patient care.Promote a culture of continuous quality improvement across the department.Set and monitor core objectives, standards and key performance indicators for the service.Contribute to the formulation, development and implementation of policies and procedures at ward and hospital level.Drive and promote a Performance Management culture.Knowledge/ExperienceRegistration with the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).Have at least 5 years post registration experience, of which 2 years must be in the speciality area.Candidates must demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.The Hermitage Clinic is an Equal Opportunities Employer with a strong commitment to diversity, inclusion and equality at all levels of the organisation. #J-18808-Ljbffr
