Role Title:Clinical Nurse Manager I: Anaesthetics & Recovery, South Dublin Surgical Hub (Mount Carmel) Job Reference Number:000678 Closing Date:Sunday, 22nd September 2024 Purpose of the Role: Mount Carmel Hospital has been identified as a site for a surgical hub for the south side of Dublin under the clinical governance of St. James's Hospital. This hub will consist of 2 day-theatres and 2 minor operation theatres covering a wide variety of specialties. The post holder will be responsible for the education and development of nursing staff, by means of in-service training, orientation of new staff and by arranging the clinical experience and supervision of the nursing team. Key Duties and Responsibilities The role of the CNM I is to: Serve as role model for professional nursing practice. Shows flexibility and versatility to be able to work across various specialties. Help build the credibility of the unit as a champion for patient care, quality, and nursing professionalism. Provide orientation and supervision for new nursing staff, ensuring that they are aware of the policies and procedures to be followed. Implementing and monitoring compliance to standards, policies, and guidelines as established by St. James's Hospital SACC Directorate and the South Dublin Surgical Hub (Mount Carmel). Identify training needs of the Nursing and Health Care assistant team whilst providing guide and support where necessary. Encourage evidence based practice, using a care planning approach to nursing care. Monitor and evaluate the care given. In consultation with the CNM II and other disciplines, implement and assess quality management programmes. Collaborate with medical, paramedical and others to devise a plan of care. Ensure that it is implemented and evaluated. Engage with key stakeholders to ensure high standards of care are delivered and maintained for patients, staff and visitors. Proactively manages quality and safety standards at local level. Deputise for the CNM II as required. The Registered Nurse must adhere to Code of Professional Practice and Behaviours Is aware and understands the need to adhere to hospital and /or professional standards, policies and procedures, relevant to there are of practice. Communicates effectively in English language, written and spoken, as appropriate to job requirements. Participate and cooperate with legislative and regulatory requirements in relation to Health and Safety as outlined in the Safety, Health and Welfare Act 2005 and the Hospital Safety Statement. * The above Role Profile is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties involved and consequently the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned to him/her/them from time to time and to contribute to the development of the post while in office. Required: Registered General Nurse with The Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible to register. 3 years post-registration experience inan acute hospital/relevant clinical areawithin the last 5 years. Demonstrate management/in-charge experience within the last year. Completed a postgraduate diploma in perioperative nursing or commitment to undertake within 2 years. Demonstrate I.T. skills including excellent keyboard skills. Experience in teaching and assessing the nursing and Health Care Assistant team. Desired: Experience in Anaesthetics & Recovery.
