Role Title:Clinical Nurse Manager II: Blood Borne Virus Liaison Nurse Job Reference Number:000721 Closing Date:Sunday, 6th October 2024 Purpose of the Role: The purpose of this role is to provide specialist nursing leadership on the management and referral to care of patients with blood borne viruses. The CNM II is responsible for the endorsement of all blood results obtained through the EDVS programme. All patients with positive results will be linked to appropriate care within the designated timeframe. The successful candidate will work as a member of the multidisciplinary team providing a patient centred quality and seamless service. She/He/They will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team. Key Duties and Responsibilities The Blood Borne Virus Liaison Nurse is a Registered Nurse who has extensive experience and clinical expertise in the management of patients with blood borne viruses.The role will encompass a major clinical focus (direct and indirect) comprising of assessment, planning, and delivery of patient care which is done in collaboration with medical and other healthcare professionals. The management of patients with blood borne viruses detected through the EDVS programme demands a broad range of professional skills and knowledge, as well as skills in communication, leadership, teaching, education, research, and counselling which develop standards of care benefiting the patient. The role of the CNM II is to: Inform known positive patients of their relevant results and diagnosis in a timely, professional, and compassionate manner. Ensure patients are promptly linked to appropriate care. Participate in the weekly hepatitis meeting to discuss patient care and treatment. Chair quarterly EDVS steering committee meetings attended by staff from Hepatology, GUIDE, ED, Microbiology, and Finance. Liaise with interdepartmental peers as point of contact for EDVS patients. Liaise with community services such as homeless and addiction services, social inclusion services, and GPs, to ensure engagement and linkage to appropriate care. Provide efficient and effective management of the programme in such a way as to provide a safe environment for patients and staff, while making the best use of resources. Promote collaboration within the multidisciplinary team. Participate in maintenance of service databases as appropriate. Provide updates of service reports to the Nurse Manager and Consultants and produce an annual report for the Hospital. Proactively manages quality and safety standards at local and Directorate level. The Clinical Nurse Manager II must adhere to Code of Professional Practice and Behaviours for Registered Nurses. Shows leadership potential to make an impact, influence, energise, and inspire others across the Directorate and pan organisation. Embraces change and acts to implement evidence based best practice where appropriate. Is aware of and understands the need to adhere to Hospital and/or professional standards, policies, and procedures, relevant to their area of practice. Communicates effectively in English language, written, and spoken, as appropriate to job requirements. Required: Registered General Nurse with The Nursing Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), or eligible to register. 5 years post-registration experience inan acute hospital/relevant clinical areawithin the last 7 years. Demonstrate management experience throughout the last 2 years. Minimum of 2 years experience in the specialist area. Demonstrate I.T. skills including excellent keyboard skills. Experience in teaching and assessing the nursing and HCA Team throughout the last 2 years. Desired: Management course. Experience in fibro scanning.
