Clinical Nurse Specialist, Osteoporosis ServiceCounty Sligo, IrelandFull time, PermanentWho We AreSligo University Hospital provides high-quality healthcare to the people of Sligo, Leitrim, South Donegal and West Cavan.SUH provides Acute Inpatient, Outpatient, and Day Services as well as Regional Specialty Services in Ophthalmology and Ear, Nose and Throat Services.SUH has a Medical Academy with NUI Galway which includes clinical rotations/education for medical students from NUI Galway on Sligo University Hospital Campus.Skills and AttributesOsteoporosisClinical Nurse SpecialistDescriptionSligo University Hospital is seeking to recruit an experienced Clinical Nurse Specialist, Osteoporosis Services.Location of Post: There is currently one Clinical Nurse Specialist post in the Orthopaedic Service, Sligo University Hospital specializing in the area of Osteoporosis. This position is a whole time permanent, pensionable post.The successful candidate may be required to work in any service area within the vicinity as the need arises.A panel may be formed as a result of this campaign for Sligo University Hospital from which current and future permanent and specified purpose vacancies of full or part-time duration may be filled.Purpose of the PostThe purpose of this CNS post is to deliver care in line with the five core concepts of the role set out in the Framework for the Establishment of Clinical Nurse/Midwife Specialist Posts, 4th edition, National Council for the Professional Development of Nursing and Midwifery (NCNM) 2008.The CNS (Osteoporosis Service) will focus on patients referred to SUH for DXA scans:Provide expertise in performing high quality DXA imaging and a specialist nursing service.Perform DXA Scans on patients referred to the department compliant with legislation, regulation, policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines, ensuring the delivery of high quality and patient-centered care.Contribute to the quality of care experienced by patients referred for DXA scans through the practice of evidence-based specialist Osteoporosis care.Improve patient outcomes through the provision of information and education.Contribute to health promotion activities relating to Osteoporosis.Evaluate the quality of service provided through participating in ongoing clinical audit and nursing research.Contribute to practice development in Osteoporosis management through the education of nurses, support services, and allied health professionals.Sligo University Hospital is an Equal Opportunity Employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr
