Unijobs on behalf of our public sector client are currently recruiting for the position of Clinical Research Nurse within the Galway City area. Contract is for an initial 3 month period, with potential for extension thereafter. Salary in the region of €42,000 - €55,000 dependant on experience. Annual leave accrued at 11.59%. *This position is subject to Garda Vetting; and Foreign Police Clearance, if applicable. You will be required to obtain these prior to commencing in this role* Purpose of the Post The purpose of the role is to ensure that the conduct of clinical research studies within the HRB-CRFG is in compliance with the currently approved protocol/amendment(s), ensuring adherence to CRFG standard operating procedures (SOP's), applicable regulations, and the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP). The research nurse will work under the direction of the CRFG Principal Investigator (PI) and with a highly qualified team to initiate, screen, recruit, adhere to protocols and close out of clinical studies conducted within the CRFG. Principal Duties and Responsibilities: The post holder will: Adhere to CRFG SOPs for clinical research projects. Adhere to nursing procedures within the CRFG and hospital. Plan and conduct clinical research activities to ensure the smooth operation of each study within the CRFG in compliance with the study protocol, GCP and applicable regulations. Participate in the education process of patients about their disease, clinical research participation plans, gold standard treatment options and outcomes. Ensure patients are informed of all details pertaining to the clinical study/research project prior to their recruitment. Screen and contribute to obtaining fully informed consent from patients enrolling into CRFG studies. Help to meet study specific target recruitment projections as agreed by sponsor and PI. Ensure patient confidentiality and dignity is maintained at all times during all study related activities. Upkeep of the individual research documentation including site files, CRFs, monitoring arrangements, data correction etc. as they pertain to the CRFG . Provide nursing knowledge, expertise, and care to patients participating in study protocols and to nursing and other health care professional colleagues. Work within a multi-disciplinary team to evaluate and treat clinical problems in line with research protocols. Facilitate the ongoing education of multi-disciplinary teams with respect to GCP, specific Protocol, and research requirements. Ensure continuity of patient care by liaising with outside health professionals and those who are involved with patient clinical care. Utilise agreed protocols to deal with referrals and enquiries from other departments/hospitals/CRFs. Promote a safe clinical environment for patients, visitors and staff of the CRFG Undertaking further education as appropriate to the role. Attend investigator meetings (national and international) and educational conferences where applicable Skills, Competencies and/or Knowledge: Each candidate and every person holding the office must have; Current registration with an appropriate division of An Bord Altranais Clinical Research Experience GCP Training Have a minimum of 4 years nursing experience Excellent communication skills Good problem solving and organizational skills Proven ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
