**Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist** Summary: Experienced occupational therapist required to lead a hand therapy unit in a plastics and orthopaedics service, providing high-quality care to patients with hand and upper limb injuries. The Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering a coordinated approach to patients in the Occupational Therapy Hand Therapy Service for the Plastics and Orthopaedics Service. The successful candidate will lead the standalone Hand Therapy Unit and be responsible for the day-to-day operation of their complex patient caseload. **Key Responsibilities:** * Provide high-quality Occupational Therapy Hand Therapy Service to the Plastics Service * Assess and treat Hand Therapy patients * Deliver an efficient service to meet the needs of the service user group and the objectives of the organisation * Work closely with the Senior Occupational Hand Therapist to deliver a high-quality efficient service * Develop and maintain high standards of clinical practice within the area of Hand Therapy * Contribute to a structured process for education of colleagues, undergraduates and other disciplines in this clinical specialist area **Requirements:** * Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc. * Hold one of the following qualifications: + Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Dublin + Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) from University College Cork + Bachelor of Science (Occupational Therapy) from the National University Ireland, Galway + Master of Science in Occupational Therapy (Professional Qualification) from University of Limerick + Hold an Occupational Therapy qualification recognised by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU * Be registered on the Occupational Therapists Register maintained by the Occupational Therapists Registration Board at CORU * Have a minimum of 5 years post qualification in the practise of Hand Therapy * Have the requisite knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the duties of the office **Desirable Qualifications and Experience:** * Postgraduate education / continuing professional development / training in Plastics / Orthopaedics / Trauma / Burns * Evidence of postgraduate experience in splinting hands and the upper limb in hand therapy * A proven record of clinical/academic achievement including development in the specialist area * AOTI membership or equivalent * IAHT / BAHT / equivalent membership
