Summary: Experienced Occupational Therapist sought for a Clinical Specialist role in an acute hospital in Dublin, providing high-quality Hand Therapy services to patients with complex Plastics caseloads.
Medforce Recruitment is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist to join a large acute hospital in Dublin. The successful candidate will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering a coordinated approach to patients in the Occupational Therapy Hand Therapy Service for the Plastics Service.
The Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist will be responsible for the provision of a high-quality Occupational Therapy Hand Therapy Service to the Plastics Service. Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering occupational therapy services to a complex caseload commensurate with an advanced specialist in the field of Hand Therapy Plastics.
- Providing leadership, direction, and support to ensure the continuing development of occupational therapy staff and students in the Occupational Therapy Hand Therapy Service.
- Demonstrating a commitment to research and evidence-based practice, identifying and contributing to research, clinical evaluation, and audit opportunities.
- Developing and maintaining standards of practice for self and staff appointed to the Occupational Therapy Hand Service.
- Managing a caseload and assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating treatment programmes for service users according to service standards.
- Participating in integrated discharge planning processes in line with the HSE Code of Practice.
- Leading service planning and development by anticipating the changing needs of the service and service users.
- Fostering and maintaining professional working relationships with colleagues, front-line managers, and other healthcare personnel in the team.
- Ensuring the quality of documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, reports, and discharge summaries in accordance with local service and professional standards.
- Communicating verbally and/or in writing results of assessments, treatment/intervention programmes, and recommendations to the team and relevant others in accordance with service policy.
Requirements:
- Degree or Master of Science in Occupational Therapy.
- A minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience in the practice of Hand Therapy, with satisfactory, recent experience in plastics and/or orthopaedics, or a combination of these specialities in occupational therapy in an acute care/trauma hospital.
- AOTI membership or equivalent desirable.
- IAHT/BAHT/equivalent membership desirable.
