Your new company: A leading and well-established hospital in Cork, renowned for its exceptional patient care and cutting-edge cancer treatments, is seeking an experienced Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist to join its expanding Radiation Oncology Department on a permanent basis. This role offers flexibility, with options to work full-time or part-time. The Successful Candidate: As a Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist, you will work closely with a team of renowned Radiation Oncologists, Medical Physicists, and fellow Radiation Therapists. This role provides the opportunity to collaborate with some of the best in the field, using advanced treatment systems to improve patient outcomes. You will also have the chance to engage in research, clinical trials, and quality improvement initiatives, further contributing to the department's innovative approach to cancer care. Position Overview: In your role as Clinical Specialist Radiation Therapist, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and accurate delivery of radiation treatment to patients. You will provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to other Radiation Therapists, ensuring the highest standards of care are maintained. Additionally, you will be actively involved in department planning, quality assurance, and service development, while also offering compassionate support to patients throughout their treatment journey. Key Responsibilities: Lead and manage a team of Radiation Therapists, ensuring efficient delivery of high-quality radiation therapy services. Collaborate closely with Radiation Oncologists and Medical Physicists to develop, review, and implement individualized treatment plans for patients. Maintain strict adherence to departmental protocols and procedures to ensure patient safety and optimal treatment outcomes. Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff, providing feedback, training, and support to ensure continued professional growth. Ensure accurate documentation of all treatment records and perform regular audits to maintain compliance with departmental and regulatory standards. Oversee the departments quality assurance (QA) program, ensuring equipment is functioning correctly and that all QA activities are thoroughly recorded. Support and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss complex cases and coordinate comprehensive patient care. Engage in departmental initiatives aimed at improving patient care, including participating in clinical trials, research projects, and quality improvement programs. Provide compassionate care and clear communication to patients and their families regarding treatment procedures, addressing any concerns or inquiries they may have. Eligibility Criteria: Must hold a recognised qualification in Radiation Therapy. Must hold current CORU registration. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Radiation Therapist, with at least 2 years in a senior or supervisory role. Demonstrated leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and guide a team. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a multidisciplinary team. Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated with advancements in the field. Proven experience in quality assurance, clinical audits, and service development in a Radiation Oncology Department. Excellent time management, organisational skills, and attention to detail.
