Galway Clinic Radiology Department seeks a highly skilled Ultrasound Specialist to lead the Ultrasound service, providing professional and clinical leadership and ensuring high-quality patient care.
**Job Summary:** Permanent, full-time Ultrasound Specialist position required to oversee the Radiology Department's Ultrasound service, driving excellence in patient care, technical aspects, and service development.
**Responsibilities:
- Undertake primary responsibility for the Ultrasound service, ensuring effective utilization of resources, and providing high-quality patient care.
- Provide professional and clinical leadership, accountable for the quality of the Ultrasound service, including patient service and technical aspects.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of operational policies, protocols, and guidelines.
- Advise on equipment selection, purchase, replacement, or upgrading.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clinical, technical, and professional developments in Ultrasound and promote awareness of new developments.
- Contribute to departmental risk assessments, identify risks, and take appropriate actions.
- Support the Radiography Services Manager and Radiology Clinical Director in implementing initiatives for ongoing service development and improvement.
- Undertake abdominal/gynaecological/obstetric (dating), vascular ultrasound examinations, and issue correctly phrased written reports.
- Supervise less experienced staff members in the performance of ultrasound scans.
- Assist with the training in ultrasound scanning of radiographers, radiologists, and other disciplines as required.
- Demonstrate expertise in difficult situations.
- Participate in routine daily inspections of equipment and quality assurance procedures.
- Perform role-related duties as assigned.
**Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent in Diagnostic Radiography.
- Post Graduate qualification in Ultrasound (MSc preferred).
- CORU registration.
- A minimum of 6 years experience working in Ultrasound.
- Proven Clinical, Leadership, Project Management, Managerial, and Customer Care skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility in work practices.
