Galway Clinic seeks a skilled Ultrasound Specialist to lead the department's daily operations, ensuring high-quality patient care and technical excellence.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing professional and clinical leadership to the Ultrasound service, ensuring effective utilisation of resources.
- Contributing to the development and implementation of operational policies, protocols, and guidelines.
- Advising on equipment selection, purchase, replacement, or upgrading.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of clinical, technical, and professional developments in Ultrasound.
- Ensuring best practices are implemented and maintained.
- Reporting operational issues to the Radiography Services Manager as appropriate.
- Supporting the Radiography Services Manager and Radiology Clinical Director in service development and improvement initiatives.
- Undertaking abdominal, gynaecological, obstetric, and vascular ultrasound examinations, and issuing written reports.
- Supervising less experienced staff members in ultrasound scanning.
- Assisting with the training of radiographers, radiologists, and other disciplines in ultrasound scanning.
- Participating in routine daily inspections of equipment and quality assurance procedures.
- Participating in the on-call rota of the Radiology department.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent.
- Post-graduate qualification in Ultrasound (MSc preferred).
- CORU registration.
- A minimum of 6 years' experience working in Ultrasound.
- Proven Clinical, Leadership, Project Management, Managerial, and Customer Care skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Flexibility in work practices.
