Purpose of the Post: You will play a vital role in performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations on patients. You will work collaboratively with a dedicated team of professionals to ensure a positive patient experience. The successful candidate: You will be responsible for performing a wide range of ultrasound examinations to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of patients. You will work closely with our team of radiologists, doctors, and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely diagnostic imaging services. Responsibilities: Take primary responsibility for the day-to-day management of the Ultrasound service, ensuring optimal use of all resources. Provide strong professional and clinical leadership, with accountability for the quality of the Ultrasound service, including patient care and technical aspects. Contribute to the creation and implementation of operational policies, protocols, and guidelines. Offer advice on the selection, purchase, replacement, or upgrade of equipment. Assist in the preparation and monitoring of plans for the Ultrasound service and provide progress updates. Stay informed of the latest clinical, technical, and professional developments in Ultrasound, ensuring best practices are adopted and maintained. Report any operational issues related to Ultrasound to the Radiography Services Manager as necessary. Participate in departmental risk assessments, identify potential risks, and take appropriate action. Support the Radiography Services Manager and Radiology Clinical Director in implementing initiatives to enhance service development and improvement. Perform abdominal, gynaecological, obstetric (dating), and vascular ultrasound examinations, providing clear written reports of the findings, recorded in the RIS system. Take appropriate action when abnormal findings are detected in ultrasound examinations. Supervise junior staff members in performing ultrasound scans. Assist with training radiographers, radiologists, and other professionals in ultrasound scanning as needed. Demonstrate expertise and professionalism in challenging situations. Conduct routine daily inspections of equipment, perform quality assurance procedures, and report any issues. Participate in the on-call rota for the Radiology department. Carry out additional duties as assigned Eligibility Criteria: Bachelors degree in Diagnostic Radiography or equivalent. Postgraduate qualification in Ultrasound (MSc preferred). CORU registration. 6 years of experience in Ultrasound. Demonstrated clinical, leadership, project management, managerial, and customer care skills. Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities. A compassionate and patient-focused individual with excellent communication skills. A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
