Clinical Technical Officer Department of Nursing (Kerry Campus) (Two year fixed term contract) This position will be filled on a two year fixed term basis in accordance with the requirements of the Technological Universities Act 2018. Minimum Requirements An appropriate Level 8 i.e. Primary Honours Degree in Nursing or equivalent and at least three years post qualification experience in a relevant environment and at an appropriate level. Duties and Responsibilities The Technical Officer will be responsible to the President/Director, Head of School/Department/Function and Senior Technical Officer for the co-ordination, administration and development of technical facilities at University, Faculty, School, Department, and Function level. Required to work closely with students, management, academic, technical and other staff. Themainpurposeofthepostistoprovidetechnicalsupporttosimulationactivitiesin the new Simulation Centre in the Nursing Departmentto support the delivery of quality simulation-based education programmes to students and staff. Usingsimulationstandardsandestablishedbestpractice,thetechnicalofficerinsimulationwillsupporttherunningof the simulation facility, the collation and maintenance of the inventory as well as the care of the manikins and other equipment used in the simulation program. Evening or weekend shifts may be required. MainDutiesandResponsibilities Assisting with the planning and organisation of the day-to-day operations of the simulation facility and programmes, to ensure the smooth running and optimal usage of resources, space and equipment. Providing technical support to colleagues and other stakeholders in respect of simulation services. Developing,testinganddeliveringnewsimulationservices. Developingsimulationpractice,policiesandprocedures. Maintaining current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment catalogs and operation manuals. Operatingsimulatorsforthedurationofsimulations. Setting up and taking down simulation laboratory equipment which may involve rapid turnover of simulation lab set up. Maintainingandrepairingallsimulationequipment. Providingtechnicalsupportfortasktrainers. Providingrecommendationsonequipment,suppliesandmaterials. Maintainingsimulationactivitiesandlearnerconfidentiality. Undertake such other appropriate duties as may be assigned from time to time by the university authorities. Citizenship Requirement Candidates should note that eligibility to compete for posts is open to citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA) or to non-EEA nationals with a valid work permit. The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union, United Kingdom along with Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Swiss citizens under EU agreements may also apply. It is an offence under the Employment Permits Acts 2003 and 2006 for both an employer and an employee if a non-EEA National is in employment without an appropriate employment permit. Employment permit holders can only work for the employer named on the permit.
