Job Description

Precision Engineer Role:

The Personalized Solutions team provides patient-specific devices to those with complex clinical cases, where no other device exists on the market to treat their condition. As a Precision Engineer, you will set up best in class manufacturing processes to enable the PSS business, delivering this in a timely manner independently or as part of a team. You will provide technical support, manage your case load under tight time constraints, and support process development for a wide variety of implant types.

Key Responsibilities:

* Work with Engineering leaders to deliver business objectives across the Personalized Solutions team
* Develop and implement supporting documentation, SOPs, and process work instructions compliant with current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
* Lead technical improvements under the business's Continuous Improvement Program (CIP)
* Complete detailed First Article Inspections of products
* Routine inspection of vendor and internally manufactured implants for development or investigative purposes
* Generate CAD drawings and apply GD&T tolerancing principles
* Collaborate with Design Department for complex bespoke medical device components
* Work flexibly as part of the manufacturing team and support other team members as required
* Increase productivity and reduce scrap through modern Inspection techniques & strategies
* Conduct engineering and metrology research, including new advanced metrology and inspection systems
* Complete MSA analyzing of inspection data, gage R&R results, and inspection methods
* Program, debug, and validate complex inspection equipment

Requirements:

* Experience working in a production environment inspecting components from engineering drawings & 3D CAD models
* Toolmaking experience desirable
* Formal Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering qualification or time-served apprenticeship in an Engineering discipline
* Ability to programme, set, and operate different inspection machines
* Demonstrable experience in offline 3D inspection programming
* Knowledge of work holding, probing, quality awareness, and time management
* Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
* PC literate, with knowledge of MS Windows applications
* Flexible, can-do approach, results-oriented, self-motivated with drive and initiative
* Ability to identify areas of improvement & implementation
* Experience and knowledge of CNC machining process (turning/milling)
