MILFORD CARE CENTRE, Limerick Serving the people of the Mid-West The Specialist Palliative Care Community Service (SPCCS) in Milford Care Centre is an interdisciplinary, community-based service providing specialist palliative care to adults and children living in Limerick, Clare, and North Tipperary. Milford Care Centre is a leading provider of hospice care within Ireland, the centres commitment to palliative care and research is known throughout the world. The hospice team in Milford were the first centre outside of Australia to bring in the Palliative Care Outcome Collaboration (PCOC) suite of assessment tools. This enables specialist palliative care services to measure and better understand quality, safety and outcomes of care. Milford Care Centre is committed to the education and development of its nurses to ensure that patients and their families receive outstanding, evidence based palliative care. The Nursing Team is an integral component of the service. Operating 7 days a week, the team works collaboratively with the primary care team caring for the patient to provide a holistic, specialist palliative care service that is responsive to patients changing health and wellbeing needs. Benefits of working in Milford Care Centre Fully supported induction program Education programs and opportunities Staff support and wellness department Ample free parking Subsidised canteen on site Access to on-site education department and library Pension and staff benefit program Bike to work scheme CNS Candidate (Specialist Palliative Care Community Services) Permanent post Reporting to the CNM III and accountable to the ADON-Community Services, the post holder will work as part of the Nursing Team in SPCCS and be required to: Develop skills and knowledge over a 1-2year period in order to deliver on all 5 core concepts of the CNS role as defined by the NCNM (4th edition, 2008) - Clinical Focus, Client Advocate, Education and Training, Audit and Research and Consultant. Articulate and demonstrate specialist nursing practice within the framework of relevant legislation - The Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics (NMBI, 2014), The Scope of Nursing and Midwifery Practice Framework (NMBI, 2015). Develop skills and knowledge over a 1-2year time frame to deliver a high level of clinical knowledge and expertise, leadership ability, teaching skills to effectively carry out the duties / responsibilities of the role. Provide specialist palliative care nursing practice using evidence-based decision-making and in a manner that is efficient, effective and of the highest standard. Essential Qualifications: Be registered on the General Register of Nurses as maintained by NMBI. Have 1years post graduate experience Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships Demonstrate evidence of continuing professional development.
