Job Details
We are the people behind Ireland's electricity grid.
Our focus is on safety, security, and reliability.
Our work environment is challenging, fast-moving, collaborative and team-oriented.
Our culture is driven by performance, knowledge, and continual development.
We are now transforming the power system for future generations.
The Opportunity

The Transformation & Technology Office is responsible for visioning and planning the power system and market of the future as well as innovating in how we operate and develop the grid to ensure we meet climate change targets and decarbonise the electricity system.

Creating a culture of continuous improvement that drives technical and process innovation is central to delivering on these roles.
To enable the government targets on decarbonisation we are required to make unprecedented changes to deliver on this ambition.
This will require us to carry out groundbreaking studies, analysis and to introduce new arrangements and processes.

Many of these will then require changes to our core applications which run the power system and market on a 24/7/365 basis including scheduling and dispatch, energy management system, wind/solar dispatch tool, auction platforms and system services.

The changes will require an investment in the order of several hundreds of million in our systems, processes and arrangements over the coming years.

Due to both the scale and complexity of the work involved we require a number of experts to join our expanding teams in both the Dublin and Cork offices.

A number of roles are required across the full lifecycle of new solutions from studies into concepts and then through to implementation.

As Market Consultant, you will be responsible for the delivery of strategic market change programmes impacting all aspects of the market from long term (e.g.
capacity market) through to short term (e.g.
balancing market).

You will lead out on pivotal parts of this lifecycle such as influencing the relevant EU Network Codes, understanding the changes required, developing options to address these, developing the minimum viable solutions to meet our needs, developing the code and process changes, industry readiness, developing testing strategies and leading acceptance testing.

Development of the end solution will require the role holder to have an in-depth understanding of how the change will impact on our existing systems and processes.

We will look to you to lead on the market design for new technologies connecting to the power system, ensuring development of the minimum viable solution.

You will act as an expert advisor to senior leaders in the organisation to ensure their requirements are captured as part of future designs and that a minimum viable solution principle is being adapted.

You will also contribute to and influence the design and delivery of policy changes at a national and international level (e.g.
EU Network Codes) to prudently manage future changes.

Along with exceptional technical knowledge of the market in Ireland, the role requires excellent team working, organisational and communications skills.

You will provide input to goals for individual team members, coach, facilitate and support staff in solving problems and will support the wider leadership team to ensure a strong focus of team performance against objectives.

You will be passionate about the strategic aims and objectives of Eir Grid and the role that you can play in leading and influencing the transformation of the power system for future generations.
