Job Description

Commercial Account Director sought to manage client relationships, drive new business growth, and lead a team in a dynamic environment.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and prospects, with a primary focus on client retention and driving new business growth. They will develop and nurture client relationships, expanding the portfolio within the business, and play a key role in converting new prospects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Gain a deep understanding of clients' businesses and their insurance or risk placement needs.
  • Build and sustain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders across the industry.
  • Provide expert advice and insights on technical and industry-specific matters.
  • Liaise with clients and insurers to foster and maintain robust partnerships.
  • Take a proactive approach during the renewal process to ensure exceptional service and effective account management.
  • Participate actively in the sales process, contributing to the acquisition of new clients.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of prospects, leveraging tools like Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Respond efficiently and accurately to inquiries about new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to identify and capitalize on cross-selling opportunities.
  • Work closely with the Broking service team, offering direction and support as needed.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying and implementing best practices within the team.
  • Ensure consistency and high standards in work practices and processes across the team.

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of experience in an Account Director/Executive or equivalent role within insurance broking.
  • Degree-level education preferred.
  • CIP qualification required; ACII qualification would be an asset.
  • Willingness to travel to different locations as necessary.
  • Proven ability to deliver outstanding client service.
  • Practical knowledge of account development strategies and relevant tools.
  • Strong understanding of insurance markets and the ability to meet both client and business needs effectively.
  • Experience in driving new business, with a demonstrated ability to convert prospects into long-term clients.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with clients, prospects, colleagues, insurers, and external partners.
  • Ability to represent the business with professionalism, integrity, and credibility.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.
