Job Description

To enhance both our internal and externally focused communications, we are seeking a Communications Executive. The role will be responsible for developing and managing strategic internal and external communication programs with the aim of raising awareness of Engineers Ireland and the profile of the organisation, growing the membership across a diverse range of engineering disciplines, in close collaboration with Marketing, Membership and Continuous Professional Development Teams. Our ideal candidate must have marketing, communications or public affairs experience with demonstrable project management skills. The candidate will report to the Head of Public Affairs Key Responsibilities Develop and execute the strategic internal and external communications plans, with the Head of Public Affairs, for key areas of stakeholder engagement, including media relations and member communications Manage day-to-day press queries, draft, and issue press releases and comments to the media Develop and cultivate strong relationships with media representatives as well as identify opportunities to raise awareness of the profession through such relationships Create content for press releases, newsletters, Engineers Journal, internal newsletters, etc. by working with other stakeholders Develop content for use across the organisations numerous communications channels and provide recommendations to improve reach and impact Work with the marketing team to ensure the marketing materials have consistent messaging and ensure our blog posts, articles, social media content, and press releases align with our brand guidelines Write and/or edit leadership communications, effectively capturing the voice and strategic priorities of the organisation Initiate, develop, and manage a communications schedule of our key annual events, announcements and corporate activities to ensure a strong, strategic approach is in place Work closely with the Marketing and Communications Director on the production of some key publications, including Engineers Irelands Annual Report Assist in supporting the Marketing and Communications team with communications related to sponsorship and activities with our corporate partners. Ensure that all communications activity is measured, analysed, and reviewed to derive lessons for future use. Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Competencies A relevant third-level with a minimum of five years relevant, full-time experience in a communications, marketing or public relations-focused role Experience of dealing with the media, handling press queries and writing press releases is desired Exceptional writing and editing skills, project management and presentation skills Knowledge of social media channels and platforms is desirable, and excellent knowledge of all MS Office Programs including excellent PowerPoint An effective team player with a collaborative and pragmatic approach to working A self-motivated attitude to delivery that seeks to exploit opportunities to communicate creatively.
