Role: Communications Manager Location:Hybrid/High Park Drumcondra Dublin Reporting to:Head of Communications Terms:Full-time position 39 Hours per week Salary:€52,000 - €60,000 per annum Job Purpose: The Communications Manager in Respond plays a crucial role in managing and coordinating all internal and external communications and media relations activities within the organisation. As part of the Strategy and Public Affairs Department, this role is responsible for implementing a comprehensive communications plan that aligns with Responds mission, vision and values. The role aims to enhance Responds reputation, support organisational goals, and engage both internal and external stakeholders effectively. Reporting to the Head of Communications with a strong working relationship with the People & Culture team and managing three direct reports, this position holds significant responsibility within the organisation and contributes to public affairs activities, advocacy efforts and strategic decision making. Responsibilities: Internal and External Communications Manage the day-to-day internal and external communications, media and marketing activities of Respond. Coordinate the implementation of Responds communications plan. Develop and maintain Responds online presence through website and social media platforms. Identify and respond to tenant and service user needs, determining the best channels of communications. In partnership with the People & Culture Manager develop and implement internal communication strategies to enhance employee engagement. Foster a positive organisational culture through effective communication. Support the gathering and responding to of staff feedback to improve communication and engagement. Media and Reputation Management Implement media strategies to enhance Responds visibility. Monitor media, advocacy and current affairs across various media and the Oireachtas and with other relevant public representatives. Proactively seek media and speaking opportunities for the Spokesperson, providing support and briefing materials. Prepare press statements, advocacy briefings and articles on housing and homeless issues for sign off for internal and external communications. Liaise with and build relationships with media, key decision makers and member organisations. Monitor and evaluate all communications work, reporting evidence of impact and making recommendations for future work. Publications and Content Creation Oversee the production of content across various platforms to support Responds objectives. Manage editorial direction to communicate key achievements and initiatives effectively. Contribute to maintaining a strong brand for Respond including impactful and fit-for-purpose publications, newsletter, web site, social media, collateral and merchandise. Event Management Coordinate the planning of events in a professional manner ensuring they align with Responds strategic objectives. Branding and Marketing Implement Responds branding approach ensuring it aligns with Responds mission and strategic goals. Develop and implement marketing strategies specifically tailored to promote Responds cost rental homes. Financial Manage the budget, ensuring value for money. Plan and organise resources to achieve strategic objectives. Team Development and Leadership Provide leadership at every level ensuring the Respond team delivers its vision and achieves its full potential. Facilitate effective communications support to all relevant teams. Maximise learning and development opportunities to promote continuous professional development of team members. Participate as an effective member of the Strategy and Public Affairs Team. Education: Requires undergraduate degree level in a relevant discipline (journalism, PR or equivalent field). Skills & Experience: Position requires 8-10 years of experience in a communications, marketing or journalist role. Knowledge Comprehensive understanding of PR strategies, media relations and journalism practices. Strong knowledge of marketing strategies, branding and digital marketing. In depth understanding of developing and implementing communications plans. Expertise in managing and leveraging social media platforms. Knowledge of content creation across multiple platforms, including web, print and social media. Awareness of housing, homelessness and related social issues in Ireland. Skills/Attributes Strong leadership skills to guide and motivate the Communications team. Excellent project management skills to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Ability to develop and execute strategic communications plans. Exceptional writing and editing skills for various types of content. Skilled in planning, coordinating and executing events. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and emerging issues. Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in communications. Innovative and creative mindset to develop engaging content and campaigns. Team orientated approach with the ability to work effectively across departments. Strong problem solving skills to address challenges and find effective solutions. Genuine passion for Responds mission to improve lives and communities through housing and services in the community.
