The Company Manager will be responsible for overseeing the operational, artistic, and strategic leadership of Circus Factory Cork. This role merges the duties of a traditional General Manager and an Artistic Delivery requiring the successful candidate to balance business management with creative leadership. The Company Manager will drive the organisation’s strategic plan, manage day-to-day operations, and ensure the delivery of an artistic programme in line with Circus Factory’s mission and values. Job Title: Company ManagerReports To: Board of DirectorsContract Type: Full-timeSalary: €(Commensurate with experience) per year, paid by monthly payrollLocation: On-site with flexibility for remote working when requiredContract Duration: 2 years, with potential for extensionProbationary Period: 6 monthsHours: 40 hours per week, with flexibility around events and peak times Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Governance: Lead the company in line with Circus Factory’s mission, values, and Strategic Development Plan. Collaborate with the Board of Directors to set and implement long-term strategies that ensure the organisation’s sustainability and growth. Act as the main point of communication between the Board of Directors, staff, and external stakeholders, including funders and partners. Oversee governance compliance, ensuring the company adheres to relevant laws and regulations. Prepare financial, operational, and programming reports for the Board. Ensure that Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) principles are embedded across all aspects of the company’s activities. Artistic Delivery & Development: Develop and oversee the artistic vision of Circus Factory’s programming, ensuring it aligns with the company’s objectives and artistic ambitions. Collaborate with internal teams (such as the Education and Adult Programmes) to curate a diverse range of performances, workshops, and participatory activities. Manage partnerships, collaborations, and co-productions with local, national, and international artists and organisations. Oversee the recruitment, contracts, and management of artists involved in company projects and productions. Work with the Marketing Manager to ensure successful audience development and promotion of Circus Factory’s artistic offerings. Ensure thorough evaluation of each project and provide feedback for improvement. Operational & Financial Management: Oversee day-to-day operations, including human resources, finance, and general administration. Prepare and manage the annual budget, in consultation with the Board of Directors, ensuring financial sustainability. Manage the company’s cash flow, bookkeeping, and financial reporting. Manage and ensure the maintenance of all company spaces, together with risk assessments, health and safety policies, and equipment upkeep. Manage membership administration, including onboarding new members and maintaining documentation. Develop new income streams through fundraising, sponsorship, and grant applications, with particular focus on Arts Council grants and other funding bodies. Management and maintenance of all internal and external communications. Staff Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage the Circus Factory team, ensuring they are motivated and aligned with the company’s mission and values. Conduct performance appraisals and provide opportunities for staff development. Facilitate a positive and inclusive work environment for all employees, artists, and members. Manage the recruitment and training of staff, ensuring all hires contribute to the achievement of company goals. Oversee human resources, including rostering, appraisals, and conflict resolution. Advocacy & External Relations: Represent Circus Factory as a public face of the company at events, conferences, and networking opportunities. Build relationships with key stakeholders, funders, and the wider circus and street arts communities. Advocate for Circus Factory’s work at local, national, and international levels, raising the company’s profile and securing future opportunities. Person Specification Essential Skills & Qualifications: Senior leadership experience in an artistic or charitable organisation. Experience in managing staff, teams, and creative projects. Track record in budget setting and financial management. Proven ability to manage complex operations while maintaining strategic oversight. Excellent communication, collaboration, and delegation skills. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and work with a wide range of stakeholders. Demonstrated success in fundraising and developing new income opportunities. Desirable Skills & Qualifications: A degree in business management, arts administration, or a related field. Knowledge of Arts Council grant processes and other major funders. Experience working with diverse cultural and social backgrounds, with a focus on inclusivity. Working knowledge of circus, street theatre, or related performing arts. Strong knowledge of health and safety. Additional Information: The successful candidate will work closely with the voluntary Board of Directors to support the progress and development of Circus Factory. This role requires flexibility in working hours, especially during peak times such as festivals, events, and performances. A 6-month probationary period will apply to this role.
