Job Description
**Component Engineer/Supplier Manufacturing Engineer**: Drive improvement and corrective actions in the quality of components sourced from outside suppliers.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Establish incoming inspection and test procedures and provide technical support to manufacturing to resolve material or supplier related issues.
- Develop new supply sources with purchasing team and qualify components to specified parameters.
- Assess potential new suppliers for technical and manufacturing capabilities and provide technical support for the introduction of components from a new supplier.
- Manage projects to reduce material cost or reduce material supply risks.
- Work with Receiving Improvement teams relating to component usage or design.
- Lead on Process Improvement teams relating to component usage or design.
- Review material specification releases and revisions as required.
- Investigate field failures related to supplier materials and develop corrective action plans where necessary.
- Manage/participate in teams to conduct business risk assessments and develop action plans to reduce or eliminate risks.
**Requirements:**
- NQF level 7 in a relevant discipline and +2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Working technical knowledge and application of concepts, practices, and procedures.
- General understanding of business unit/group function.
- Ability to work on problems of moderate scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of identifiable factors.
- Cultivate a wide range of internal networks and begin to develop an extensive external network of resources to facilitate completion of tasks.
- Plan, organise, and prioritise own daily work routine to meet established schedule.
- Exercise authority and judgment within defined limits to determine appropriate action.
