Construction Estimator Key Responsibilities Cost Estimation: Accurately prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Project Assessment: Review project plans, specifications, and other documentation to develop comprehensive estimates. Bid Preparation: Compile bid proposals, including breakdowns of all estimated costs and potential risks. Vendor and Supplier Management: Liaise with vendors and suppliers to obtain pricing and ensure accuracy in estimates. Risk Analysis: Identify potential cost overruns and risk factors, providing recommendations for mitigation. Client Communication: Collaborate with clients, architects, and engineers to discuss project specifications and resolve any issues related to cost estimates. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, materials, and cost structures to provide accurate and competitive estimates. Qualifications and Skills Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimating, preferably within the building or civil engineering sectors. Education: A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Professional Estimator) are a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimation software (e.g., Bluebeam, Microsoft Excel) and familiarity with project management software. Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail. Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present estimates and related information to stakeholders.
