Job Description

We are the people behind Ireland's electricity grid, operating the power system with world-leading levels of variable asynchronous renewable generation, ensuring everyone has power when they need it.

We are transforming the power system for future generations, reducing carbon emissions and meeting climate change and net zero ambitions.

The Controller plays a key role in supporting the full range of work within the Market Team, working closely with service providers to operate and verify results from various wholesale markets.

The Controller is responsible for:

  • Providing operational input and monitoring key market activities such as auctions and production of settlement documents.
  • Monitoring and analysing market data and resolving operational issues.
  • Operating business processes within designated areas, in consultation with the senior controller.
  • Working within defined guidelines and supervision, resolving simple issues and escalating complex issues in line with processes.
  • Ensuring compliance with procedures and relevant codes, raising deviations to senior team members.
  • Providing first-level support to resolve queries from internal or external customers.
  • Actively building knowledge and experience of business processes within their team.
  • Supporting ongoing service changes and improvements, including process improvement and training activities.
  • Communicating and coordinating market events and following backup procedures in a timely and accurate way.
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders that support operation processes.

About the role:

  • 1-2 years experience in a financial/administrative role.
  • Strong numerical and analytical ability.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality orientation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in a business environment with a track record of establishing and maintaining effective relationships.
  • Ability to organise own work to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment with a flexible approach.
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office and file management systems.
