Summary: Controls Engineer sought to design and develop next-generation control systems for data centers, with expertise in critical infrastructure, building operations, and automation.
Amazon Data Services Ireland Limited is seeking a Controls Engineer to join the AWS Data Center Systems team. The team builds services to monitor, control, and alert the data center infrastructure systems.
About the Role
- Design and develop next-generation control systems for data centers
- Develop mechanisms for control system design, sequence development, hardware integration, and engineering specifications
- Provide support and develop solutions for complex control system malfunctions
- Collaborate with multiple teams to deliver projects for customers
- Develop and maintain specification documents for global projects
- Travel of 50% or more may be required to manage and support project deployments

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
- Collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security
- Work on the most challenging problems with thousands of variables impacting the supply chain
- Join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Engineering Technology
- 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, including programming development, start-up, and commissioning of critical systems
- 3+ years of experience in designing or contributing to the design of Controls and Monitoring solution projects
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications
- Proficiency in software programming languages, including Python and/or Codesys
- Experience in project management and project engineering, with a proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget
- Experience in a highly collaborative, cross-functional environment, with proven success in coordinating across multiple teams
- In-depth knowledge of Data Center Facilities Infrastructure and Operations, with an understanding of industry best practices and standards
