It has evolved from a single function agency managing the National Debt to a manager of a complex portfolio of public assets and liabilities. Businesses managed by the NTMA include borrowing for the Exchequer and the management of the National Debt, the State Claims Agency, the New Economy and Recovery Authority ("NewERA"), the Ireland Strategic Investment Fund, National Development Finance Agency and the NTMA Future Ireland Funds business unit with responsibility for the management of the Future Ireland Fund and Infrastructure, Climate and Nature Fund. The NTMA also assigns staff to the National Asset Management Agency, the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI) and Home Building Finance Ireland (HBFI). Its core role is to provide financial and commercial advice to Government Ministers in relation to the major commercial State companies (together, the Portfolio Companies): AirNav Ireland, An Post, Bord na Mna, Coillte, Cras Iompair ireann (including Dublin Bus, Irish Rail and Bus ireann), daa, Dublin Port Company, EirGrid, Ervia (including Gas Networks Ireland), ESB, Irish Aviation Authority, Land Development Agency, Port of Cork, Port of Waterford, Shannon Foynes Port Company, Shannon Airport Group, RT, TG4, Uisce ireann and Vhi. NewERA's approach is to facilitate an enhanced level of active ownership by the State as shareholder in the Portfolio Companies. For further information, please see: Role Summary NewERA is seeking to recruit high calibre finance professionals to the position(s) of Corporate Finance Analyst/Advisor. The roles provide an exciting opportunity to join a growing and dynamic team and develop a career in corporate finance. The successful candidates will gain broad exposure to a range of financial advisory assignments in the commercial State sector, working in a commercially driven environment that combines private sector best practices and a public sector remit. The successful candidates will work within a small team and will gain exposure to all aspects of NewERA's advisory role in relation to the commercial State companies for which NewERA has responsibility from a shareholder perspective (e.g., review and analysis of Portfolio Company proposals, identification of key financial and commercial issues). The successful candidates will report directly to a Corporate Finance Director and be given a level of responsibility for the oversight of a number of Portfolio Companies which is commensurate with their experience. Principal Responsibilities 1. The successful candidates' ongoing responsibilities will include: 2. Assist in oversight from a shareholder perspective of a number of Portfolio Companies. 3. Review and analyse financial reports (including annual reports and interim reports etc.) and business plans prepared by Portfolio Companies. 4. Review and analyse any borrowing, funding and capital expenditure proposals that Portfolio Companies are submitting for Ministerial approval. 5. Review and analyse from a financial perspective any acquisition, disposal or joint venture proposals to be undertaken by Portfolio Companies. 6. Review of financial targets (e.g. dividend, profitability, gearing) and equity valuations for Portfolio Companies to monitor financial performance and shareholder return. 7. Industry analysis and research of competitor and market trends. 8. Assist in oversight of the delivery of climate objectives (e.g. decarbonisation / sustainability strategies) by Portfolio Companies including engagement with relevant stakeholders. 9. Assist in developing and reviewing strategic initiatives for Portfolio Companies that would add value to the State as shareholder. 10. Prepare financial models to support the rationale of strategic initiatives developed by NewERA. 11. Liaise with a wide range of stakeholders, in particular Government Departments and Portfolio Companies. 12. Prepare accurate, commercially focused and insightful reports capable of presentation to relevant Government Ministers/Departments. Educational Requirements Degree in relevant discipline (e.g. finance, business, commerce, accounting, economics) Membership of a professional accountancy or similar financial body is highly desirable (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, CFA) Experience Minimum of 3 years in a relevant financial role in professional services, advisory or a commercial organisation of scale.
