Kildare The Principal Officer will be a member of the Management Board and the successful candidate will provide effective management supporting the analytical and advisory services and contribute to management decisions, as well as playing an important role in the strategic direction, governance and development of the organisation. The Principal Officer will have responsibility for support sections. The role of the support sections is to meet organisational requirements and provide services required by staff to support Strategic Goals. The Principal Officer will have responsibility for the Finance Section, Human Resources Section and ICT Section. About your new employer Our public sector client is a designated EU National Reference Laboratory and the designated testing laboratory for Ireland and a scheduled office under the aegis of the Department of Public Expenditure and Reform. They undertake chemical analyses for a variety of different purposes which include monitoring the quality and safety of Irish food and prosecuting fraud. About the role Providing effective management, governance and demonstrating leadership and drive as part of its Management Board, ensuring that the Laboratory achieves its strategic goals; Identifying and anticipating the needs of clients, developing and resourcing the services required and ensuring that excellent customer service is a primary consideration of all managers and staff reporting to him/her; Leading multi-disciplinary teams, developing a high performance culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing, thus enhancing individual and team capabilities and skills and improving performance; Developing a strategic vision and implementing the policies and objectives in compliance with the requirements of Corporate Governance; Collaborating with national, EU and other international bodies, including educational/research institutions, and building the reputation of the Laboratory; Having overall responsibility for Finance including the budgeting process and ensuring that the proper financial systems are in place and that robust financial information is available to make informed decisions on the Laboratorys capabilities and deployment of resources; Having overall responsibility for Human Resources ensuring scientific and support staff resources, skills and capabilities meet the requirements of the laboratory and that a safe, positive and inclusive work environment is promoted; Having overall responsibility for ICT, ensuring delivery of progressive ICT systems that are secure and resilient and leading digital transformation initiatives; Essential Requirements A qualification of at least Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications in a relevant discipline, or, a relevant qualification which is acceptable to the Management Board as being at least equivalent. Have a minimum of 3 years senior management experience with a proven track record in leading and managing multidisciplinary teams; Track record of managing operational delivery, sustained improvement and strategic projects concurrently; High level of IT literacy and data analysis capability; Possess the management, leadership, communication, decision-making and judgement skills and attributes required for the post; Familiar with financial and human resource management systems; Whats on Offer?
