People First Credit Union is currently recruiting for the role of Credit Control Team Leader.This is full-time permanentposition and is based in one of our four branches with infrequent travel to other branches. TheCredit ControlTeam Leaderposition reports to the Finance Manager and is responsible for the progressive implementation and management of our credit unions credit policy and procedures, ensuring the provision of an efficient service to our very valued members within the authorised limits while minimising the number of accounts in arrears. The role requires the successful candidate to have a professional manner and work effectively to ensure our members in arrears are supported along with financial losses to the credit union being minimised. The Credit Control Team Leader will assist in ensuring that credit control risks in the lending portfolio are identified and assessed; then managed and mitigated to an acceptable tolerance level as set out by the Board of Directors. As a control function, the successful candidate will be accountable for ensuring that the relevant Individual Accountability Framework responsibilities are met, in line with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in credit control along with excellent communication skills. Skills and competency requirements: Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to multitask effectively. Friendly and approachable, believing in teamwork and collaboration. Excellent communication skills as well as strong IT skills. Proven experience in a credit control function or a similar role of three or more years within a financial industry, credit union or office administration environment, inclusive of a strong understanding of credit risk management principles. QFA qualified and/or a certificate, diploma preferably in business/finance is an advantage. Self-motivated with the ability to work effectively as an individual and lead a team optimally. Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines. People management experience is an advantage. Member focused and aligned with the ethos and values of the credit union.
