ART Cyber Systems TeamThe Cyber Systems team, geographically distributed across the US, Ireland, and Italy, aims at developing novel technologies to protect connected products and aviation systems to assure the data security, safety, and operational continuity of our customers. By placing security as an enabler for disruptive transformation in the aviation sector, the team designs solutions to assure runtime integrity of the system operations, to protect and control the exchange of shared sensitive data in connected environment, to proactively eliminate vulnerabilities at design time, and to ensure resilience and availability of critical systems. Job SummaryCollins Aerospace ART seeks candidates with proven research experience in cybersecurity to join the Cyber Systems team for its sites in Ireland and Italy. The successful candidate will need to prove their strong mix of academic research and applied experience in designing, prototyping, and demonstrating cybersecurity technologies that will be part of the next generation on-board and on-the-ground innovative solutions for the connected aerospace domain. The candidate must possess: Strong intellectual curiosity, ingenuity, and integrity. Enthusiasm and passion to learn. Self-organization and excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills to work in international teams. Willing to champion and challenge new technical ideas. Able to adapt to new challenges and go beyond the original field of expertise. Able to partner with universities, government agencies, national labs, and professional organizations to meet organizational objectives within time and budget constraints. The person in this role should be self-motivated, serving as a key contributor to the research and implementation of new software and embedded technologies for connected aircraft and critical ground systems. Research projects may include multi-level computing systems, secure networking, formal verification, and advanced software analysis tools. As part of our team, candidates will have the opportunity to significantly contribute to new research we are performing in cyber physical system security. This is a research-focused role. Key Responsibilities: Serve as a key technical contributor for complex software development projects using languages such as C/C++, Java, Python, Rust, and others. Provide subject matter expertise to a multidisciplinary and international team of experts and work on design, analysis, simulation, development and/or verification of cyber-security solutions in the broad ICT domain in high assurance and security-critical systems. Participate in teams of hardware, software, and systems engineers to develop, integrate, and evaluate key new software technologies. Contribute towards technical strategy and business development to a growing research agenda for future aerospace systems within the Collins Aerospace applied research and technology community. Execute R&D activities within an international research community, including technology development within collaborative EU research projects (under e.g. Horizon Europe, SESAR, Clean Sky). The ideal candidate must possess a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering and must demonstrate outstanding previous embedded systems and security experience. Less experienced candidates are also encouraged to apply and will be evaluated according to their experience. At least a master’s degree in computer science or engineering with strong understanding of operating systems and networking fundamentals is required.
