Job Description

Summary: Experienced Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor sought to advise clients on regulations and provide consultancy services for safe transportation of hazardous materials.

Reporting to the General Manager, the Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor will join a team of professionals who advise companies on the regulations applicable to their specific operation. With specialists based in various locations, our professionals work with clients to ensure compliance and safety in the area of dangerous goods transportation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing and delivering safety audits, risk assessments, chemical storage evaluations, and segregation audits on site at client locations
  • Growing, developing, and leading a DGSA team
  • Delivering recommendations to improve internal processes and management systems
  • Providing details for training on all aspects associated with the transport of dangerous goods, chemical safety, etc.
  • Developing client procedures for activities associated with the carriage of dangerous goods
  • Reporting corrective actions, updates, and improvement ideas
  • Developing roadmaps to ensure that all persons are knowledgeable in their own function-specific area of work with dangerous goods and certifying those persons
  • Providing ongoing consultancy to clients on all aspects associated with the consignment of dangerous goods and health and safety consultancy services
  • Investigating dangerous goods-related accidents and/or incidents
  • Addressing queries and providing expert advice for health and safety, dangerous goods, chemical safety, and legally required compliance issues

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A valid DGSA certificate
  • Eagerness to undertake specific training as provided for the role
  • Comfortable with travelling
  • Maturity, confidence, self-motivation, and flexibility
  • Outstanding creative thinking skills
  • Clear, compelling, and concise communication skills
  • Well-developed time and task management abilities
  • Robust critical thinking skills
  • A full clean driving license and a source of transportation
