The Business Post is seeking a data analyst to work with the editorial team in a dynamic seven-day newsroom.
The role involves:
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining leading-edge analytics systems.
- Taking complicated data problems and building simple frameworks to analyse them.
- Providing comprehensive daily and weekly analytics for the newsroom to inform key staff members about audience engagement.
- Working closely with news editors and reporters to understand and maintain focus on their analytics needs.
- Proactively analysing data to answer key questions about content and drive business performance.
- Investigating and communicating areas for improvement in efficiency and productivity.
- Developing and maintaining databases by acquiring data from primary and secondary sources.
The successful candidate will have:
- Bachelor's degree in mathematics, computer science, economics, or statistics.
- Three or more years' experience mining data in a data analyst role.
- Proven analytics skills, including mining, evaluation, and visualisation.
- Strong SQL or Excel skills, with aptitude for learning other analytics tools.
- Experience with database and model design and segmentation techniques.
- Practical experience in statistical analysis through the use of statistical packages.
- Digital native with an interest in learning and development.
- Great critical thinking, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail with ability to multi-task effectively.
- Self-starter who can work on their own initiative and take responsibility for their work.
- Strong administrative and organisational skills.
