Data Center Facility Engineer (M&E) - West London, DCC Communities Job ID: 2669474 | Amazon Data Services UK Limited The successful candidate will oversee the operation and maintenance of the electrical and mechanical infrastructure for Data Centers (DC) in Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud regions. Our team operates and maintains AWS DCs' world-class mechanical and electrical infrastructure, ensuring the highest standards of safety and operational excellence. The role requires a motivated, self-managed individual who demonstrates initiative and proactively seeks solutions to problems while striving for operational excellence. The successful candidate will be part of the Engineering and Facilities team and will be responsible for maintaining availability for customers, ensuring maintenance and operation of technical infrastructure, and the upkeep and operation of the DC facility. Key responsibilities include:

  • Safety - Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and encourage a world-class safety culture.
  • Engineering & Facility Operations and Maintenance - Operational experience and familiarity with electrical and mechanical equipment, including Uninterruptable Power Supplies (UPS's), Switchgear, Circuit Breakers, Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS's), Diesel Generators, Chillers, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Exhaust Fans, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD's), and Transformers.
  • Troubleshoot events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA's).
  • Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment through routine rounds/log-taking (temperatures, voltages, currents, etc.).
  • Supervise contractors who perform servicing or preventive maintenance.
  • Manual handling and lifting of equipment may be required.
  • Ability to work shifts (morning, late and night).
  • On-call rotation reaction to off-duty emergency calls.
Basic qualifications include:
  • Experience leading and managing operations of critical facilities which require in-depth knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and control systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
  • City & Guilds/NVQ Level 3 in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Preferred qualifications include:
  • Experience in data center engineering.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, project management, construction management or similar technical focus.
