Job Description

Amazon is seeking a skilled Data Center Operations Engineer to maintain high levels of system reliability, troubleshoot issues, and contribute to the growth of the company's cloud infrastructure.

As a Data Center Operations Engineer, you will be responsible for maintaining efficiently a high level of system reliability by prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets related to Systems and Network hardware problems. You will also be responsible for Linux server and XEN service virtualization troubleshooting, remediation of physical layer outages, and installation and configuration of racks. In addition, you will participate in Data Center power and cooling events, triage and resolve trouble tickets for all devices, and physically replace server and network devices. You will also define metrics to increase customer uptime, enforce Amazon's Security Best Practices, interact with third-party vendors and contractors, and contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency.

You will participate in team meetings for metric analysis and project status updates, and contribute to building the world's largest cloud infrastructure. This role involves working a 24x7 shift rotation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain efficiently a high level of system reliability by prioritizing and resolving trouble tickets related to Systems and Network hardware problems.
  • Linux server and XEN service virtualization troubleshooting.
  • Remediate physical layer outages on both Systems & Network.
  • Install & configure racks in-line with internal SLAs.
  • Triage & resolve trouble tickets for all devices.
  • Physical replacement of server and network devices.
  • Define metrics to increase customer uptime.
  • Enforce Amazon's Security Best Practices.
  • Interact with third-party vendors & contractors.
  • Contribute ideas to improve operational efficiency.
  • Participate in and deliver on a number of local/regional/global projects.
  • Participate in team meetings for metric analysis and project status updates.
  • Contribute in building the world's largest Cloud infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of IT infrastructure experience.
  • Basic understanding of data center facilities.
  • Solid Understanding of Linux/Unix Administration and server Hardware Troubleshooting and hands-on experience.
