Job Description

Position Description The data function within ESB operates in a Hub and Spoke model, with the Hub acting as a Centre of Excellence, supporting the individual Spokes which sit directly within fivebusiness units across ESB. The Data Engineering team is an integral part of the Analytics Hub. This team has been set up to re-invent how ESB uses its data. It will be involved in the design, build, integration, and subsequent productionising of data pipelines from various sources across all business units to facilitate the optimal use of this data by appropriate analytics consumers such as Data Scientists, Data Analysts etc. Key Responsibilities Ensuring the successful delivery of all assigned Data Engineering work on projects across all ESB business units and their successful deployment to production, including use cases developed by our Data Science & Analytics team. Responsible for our data infrastructure platforms including SSIS, Azure Synapse, Cloudera. Responsible for building robust and scalable data models as well has helping to shape the vision and architecture of ESBs data infrastructure into the future Responsible for tracking the performance of our resources and growing our capability in line with business requirements. The development of Extract Transform and Load routines, modelling, queries, reports, and analysis. Experience & Qualifications Essential Minimum 3years relevant with At least 3 years' working experience in data engineering experience including hands-on development of data pipelines. ETL development using Microsoft SSIS or Azure Synapse or Hadoop. Demonstrated strength in data modelling and data warehousing (Kimball /Inmon). Experience building data products incrementally and integrating and managing data sets from multiple sources. Query performance tuning skills. Excellent communication and reporting skills. Demonstratable motivation to learn new development skills. Ideas-driven and creative in finding solutions/ designing improved methods, systems, and processes. Competent in writing Transact SQL scripts. Desirable Experience providing technical leadership and mentor other engineers for the best practices on the data engineering space Industry experience as a Data Engineer or related specialty with a record of accomplishment of manipulating, processing, and extracting value from large data sets. Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets. Experience leading large-scale data warehousing and analytics projects. Use of Agile software development. Knowledge of big data tools, e.g. HDFS, HIVE, Sqoop, Oozie, Spark, Sentry Knowledge of Azure services, e.g. Azure Blob storage, Azure Data Lake storage, Logic Apps/ Power Automate, Azure Synapse, Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL Pool, Azure Spark Pool. Use of R/ Python. Familiarity with SAP ERP, SAP BW, SAP Data Services. Use of Microsoft Visual Studio Team Services / Azure DevOps. Experience in designing and developing data visualisations through Power BI or Tableau etc Professional Certification Working in Agile methodology/sprints Location This position will be based in ESB Head Office, F27, Dublin 2.
