AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.


The Cloud Database Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing highly available, scalable, and secure database solutions on cloud platforms.

As an expert in their field, this individual will provide strategic consultancy to assess customer requirements, evaluate technology options, and architect end-to-end database infrastructures that align with the organization's goals.

They will lead the technical implementation, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless deployment and migration of cloud database environments.

The Cloud Database Architect will also identify optimization opportunities, and recommend enhancements to improve reliability, cost-efficiency, and data management capabilities.

Serving as a technical leader and subject matter expert, they will collaborate with stakeholders to solve complex challenges, document best practices, and transfer knowledge to upskill the broader team.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Highly technical and analytical, possessing 5 or more years of Database and/or Analytics Systems development and deployment experience, IT systems and engineering experience, security and compliance experience, etc.
  • Possess significant experience of software development and/or IT and implementation/consulting experience.
  • Ability to understand complex business requirements and render them as prototype systems with quick turnaround time.
  • Implementation and tuning experience in the Big Data Ecosystem (such as EMR, Hadoop, Spark, R, Presto, Hive), Database (such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MS SQL Server), NoSQL (such as DynamoDB, HBase, MongoDB, Cassandra, design principles) and Data Warehousing (such as Redshift, Teradata, Vertica, schema design, query tuning and optimization) and data migration and integration.
  • Knowledge of foundation infrastructure requirements such as Networking, Storage, and Hardware Optimization.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Track record of implementing AWS services in a variety of business environments such as large enterprises and start-ups.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills are a must, as well as the ability to work effectively across internal and external organizations and remote teams.
  • BS level technical degree required; Computer Science or Mathematics background preferred.
  • AWS Certification, eg. AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Developer, or AWS Certified Big Data – Specialty (Data Analytics Speciality).
