Day Centre Manager – Elderly Care Medforce is proud to be working with a leading organisation in Ireland that provides dementia-specific services and advocates for the rights of people affected by dementia to quality supports and services. A national non-profit organisation, my client is person-centred, rights-based, and grassroots-led with the voice of the person with dementia and their carer at its core. We are recruiting a Day Centre Manager to lead the Day Centre based in a lovely part of Limerick. To be successful in this role, you will ideally have experience in caring for individuals with dementia. You will need experience in Human Resource Management, Financial Management, Quality Standards, and Risk Management. Good communication skills, openness, enthusiasm, a positive attitude, and the ability to lead by example are essential, as well as the capability to work independently and as part of a team. The Day Centre Manager is responsible for providing best practice dementia-specific care to all clients in the Day Centre. This role involves promoting a model of care that is person-centred, community-focused, and appreciates the needs of the carer. The Day Centre Manager will manage and guide all staff required to run the centre and ensure health and safety and administration of the day care centre. Responsibilities of Day Centre Manager Assess and provide appropriate client care in the centre. Respect the rights, dignity, and confidentiality of all clients and their carers/advocates. Build a trusting relationship with clients and their carers to ensure they feel secure in the day care environment. Provide a service that focuses on increasing clients' self-esteem and improving their quality of life. Devise and implement suitable holistic care plans in consultation with clients, carers/advocates, care workers, and volunteers. Liaise with Home Care Co-ordinators/PHNs regarding client requirements. Ensure proper administration and recording of all care plans and medication (if of a nursing background) and safe storage in the day care centre. Ensure personal care needs are met with attention to client dignity, hygiene, and safety standards. Provide stimulating and enjoyable activities for clients in a relaxed and homely environment. Escalate any client concerns to the PHN. Promote good relationships with carers and a partnership in care approach. Welcome visitors to the centre and provide feedback to family carers regarding clients. Provide phone support and relay information to family carers on issues arising in daily client care. Supervise, co-ordinate, and support the work of all staff assigned to him/her. Manage all staff & volunteers in the day care centre, ensuring clarity of roles, assignment of duties, and adequate staff-client ratios at all times. Ensure all new employees and volunteers receive appropriate induction and that their ongoing training needs are periodically reviewed and actioned. Knowledge/Experience Degree or foreign equivalent (validated by NQAI) ideally in Nursing, Social Care, Applied Social Studies in Social Care, Applied Social Studies, or Social Studies. At least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in the health/social care or voluntary sector. At least 3 years’ of management experience in a similar role. Experience of working with people with complex needs in various situations. Demonstrated knowledge of the voluntary sector, older people issues, and dementia. Full clean driving license.
