Job Description
A Civil Engineer will lead designs for AWS Data Centres in the Europe, Middle East & Africa (EMEA) geography and impact other projects worldwide. Responsibilities include working with design professionals on concepts and build projects, creating and reviewing data center Civil Engineering designs, and managing design portfolios.

- Create, review, and release architectural/civil/structural design RFPs
- Manage external design consultants
- Coordinate with internal and external MEP design engineers
- Lead initiatives to improve cost, quality, schedule, and consistency
- Travel for site assessments and internal design meetings, with anticipated travel not to exceed 25%
A day in the life includes leading designs for AWS DCs, working with a creative and efficient design team, and providing technical guidance and solving large-scale implementation issues.
The team is responsible for achieving world-class uptime and developing a fleet of buildings that emphasize security, safety, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS include:
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering
- Chartered Engineer in Ireland or equivalent overseas accreditation
- 4-6 years of experience in civil engineering design for industrial, warehouse, or commercial projects
- Detailed understanding of civil engineering, including roads design, drainage systems, and retaining walls
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS include:
- Master's degree in civil or structural engineering
- Experience managing a team of civil/structural designers
- Experience across multiple disciplines, including structural, architectural, and environmental engineering
- Detailed understanding of building construction and forensic analysis of building design and construction defects
