Job Description

Our client is recruiting for a Design Engineer Electrical, Control & Instrumentation (E,C&I) This role focuses primarily on the design of biogas and renewable gas connections. Additionally, the Design Engineer may be involved in capital and operational projects related to pipelines, compressors, CNG, Biomethane, and above-ground installations. The position requires managing design aspects from concept to completion, including coordination with outsourced engineering service providers. Key Responsibilities: You will lead the design of projects from first principles, including calculations related to gas standards and hazardous area classifications. Leverage internal technical specialists and engineering service providers (ESPs) to deliver quality designs. You will oversee the design process in compliance with the Engineering Design Manual, including aspects such as material inspections, pressure reducing installations, and ATEX compliance. You will contribute to continuous improvement initiatives in design processes, ensuring efficiency in material enquiries and design execution. You will develop procedures and guidance for materials, aiming to drive efficiencies and improvements within the design process. Participate in and support Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), HAZOP/HAZID reviews, functional safety assessments, and safety integrity levels. Perform additional duties as required to support GNIs Asset Delivery function. Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: A degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Instrumentation Engineering (Level 8) is required. At least 3 years of post-graduate experience in an engineering role, preferably in the natural gas industry. Technical proficiency in electrical, control, and instrumentation design, asset selection, and specification, with working knowledge of cathodic protection systems. Experience in electrical installation design and hazardous environments, including ATEX equipment selection, installation, and testing.
