Job Title: Desktop Support Engineer

Location: Wexford
Contract: Fixed-term, 1 year
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:30 pm

We are seeking a Desktop Support Engineer to join our client's ICT service desk team, providing essential technical support in the field. You will be responsible for delivering quality 2nd line support, working closely with a qualified tech team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 2nd line technical support for ICT infrastructure, including PCs, laptops, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Manage and resolve incidents, service requests, and problems using ITIL-compliant processes.
  • Collaborate with 1st line support to mentor and enhance team knowledge.
  • Ensure timely responses to technical issues and escalate complex matters to senior support teams.
  • Conduct site visits to complete project tasks and provide operational support.
  • Document and update issues and solutions in the service desk system.
  • Work with contracted support partners to enhance the ICT environment.

Requirements:

  • Full Irish driving license.
  • A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in a similar ICT support role.
  • A degree (NFQ Level 7) in Computer Science, IT, or a related field.
  • Experience in Customer Service with an ITIL-compliant service desk tool, managing the life cycle of each incident/service request, and escalating to the 3rd line support team.
  • Experience in maintaining and updating a knowledge database of known issues and solutions to support effective problem resolution.
  • Particular expertise in day-to-day operational support for Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft SharePoint 2016 and SharePoint Online, Active Directory Administration (including forests, domains, and access control), Windows 11, Microsoft SQL Server, web server environments, and Microsoft MS Teams.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work efficiently as part of a team and manage time effectively.

Additional Information:

  • Occasional out-of-hours support may be required.
  • Some travel may be required for meetings or project tasks.

Job Type: Contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: €28,000.00-€30,000.00 per year

  • Wexford, CO. Wexford: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
