Job Description
We are seeking a Director of Data Science and Engineering to lead and shape our data-driven technical strategies, with a focus on developing and delivering impactful solutions across the entire operations value chain.

The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in process and product development, with the ability to drive innovation and optimization in predictive analytics covering all aspects of technical operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leverage deep understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes to collaborate with process scientists and drive process optimization and innovation.
- Establish and lead the development of data pipelines for processing and managing large technical datasets from development to manufacturing and quality operations.
- Develop prototype and production-grade software for advanced data visualization, as well as rigorous statistical and AI-based approaches for monitoring and controlling process and equipment performance.
- Champion cloud technologies and digital solutions to optimize processes, enhance visibility, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
- Lead the implementation of generative AI solutions to enhance data-driven decision-making, identify high-value use cases, and deploy AI-driven tools for process optimization and innovation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or advanced degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering (Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related field)
- 15+ years of experience in the biotechnology industry with demonstrated leadership in data science and engineering
- Strong scientific understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes
- Demonstrated leadership in managing teams of data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders
Bio Marin's Technical Operations group is responsible for creating our drugs for use in clinical trials and for scaling production of those drugs for the commercial market.
