Director of Strategic Programme Delivery - Utilities / Energy Sector In this role you will lead the development of strategic program that align with the company's objectives and goals and lead the recommendation of adoption and prioritisation of the projects to be included in the program for Executive approval. Sector Experience needed for this role - Utilities, Renewable, Energy, Transport ideally. The role holder will be responsible for overseeing strategic initiatives, managing program delivery, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The role holder will be responsible for leading the delivery of transformative reforms and programs, applying best practice methodologies to achieve government priorities and desired outcomes. The role holder must champion flexible and innovative solutions to delivering the IT and business projects within the program. The role holder will collaborate with product owners and service providers to ensure seamless execution. The role holder will develop and execute governance, reporting, and review frameworks to provide a holistic view of program activity and progress. The role holder will manage program budgets, resource allocation, and cost control, will monitor program performance and identify areas for improvement The role holder will ensure stakeholders are fully informed and support informed decision-making. The role holder will drive the design and implementation of a common methodology, standards, and tools for successful program delivery. The role holder will provide leadership, management of processes and functions to ensure efficient and effective program management, benefit realization, and alignment with government and organizational priorities. The role holder will establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders (both internal and external) and will engage with strategic partners, regulatory bodies, and government departments to keep all informed on performance etc. The role holder will collaborate with project leaders and senior internal and external stakeholders to ensure the correct capabilities are in place to deliver on the program ambitions The role holder will Assess cross-functional project team capability, the future skills required to operate during and post the programme delivery and ensure adequate capacity to handle program demands. Provide coaching, training, and support to enhance program management capability and the address any skill deficiencies. The role holder will proactively represent the government's interests and optimize outcomes related to solutions and services. The role holder will foster influential relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders. The role holder will collaborate with solution architects to design effective solutions and oversee solution delivery, ensuring quality and adherence to standards. The Role holder will manage performance and resources (budget, staff/contract performance, asset management, reporting), and lead regulatory submission for strategic projects The role holder will address resistance and promote adoption of new processes and systems. The role holder will manage relationships with vendors and external partners and work with the Director of Technology Services on contractual needs for the successful delivery of the programme and ensure timely delivery of contracted services. The role holder must prioritise the projects in the programme and the activities across the various projects within the programme. The Director of Strategic Programme Delivery will drive business transformation initiatives and align program outcomes with overall business planning. High staff retention High staff satisfaction High customer satisfaction High adoption rate of change from the Strategic Delivery Programme Knowledge, Skills and Experience Significant and proven experience in delivering business change or IT change programs Exceptional people leader, able to set out a vision and plan, and bring employees on the change journey Bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field in business administration, management, Project Management, or a related field (MBA preferred). Ability to adapt quickly to changing circumstances, demonstrate resilience and be comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity Familiar with power system operations, grid stability, and energy market dynamics. Experience of creating, leading and influencing high performing teams in changing circumstances Significant experience in program management, strategic planning, and delivery of complex large-scale projects. Exceptional decision-making skills. Exceptional at identifying and mitigating risks Ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, manage stakeholders, and drive program success Exceptional relationship management skills Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills Strong leader in managing budgeting, funding requirements, and financial management. Strong team player who can collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. High standards of integrity and ethical behaviour Excellent stakeholder management within the energy industry or similar industries Experience working in government, public sector, or regulated industries is advantageous. Excellent communication and negotiation skills to engage with diverse stakeholders. Strong analytical skills to align programs with organizational goals and government priorities. Proficiency in managing organisational change and transformation.
