Principal Ecologist (Freshwater) *Cork, Galway or Dublin* Ecologist with 6+ years experience needed to join a highly respected, award-winning international multi-disciplinary consultancy with offices in Cork, Galway and Dublin. This role will involve working on water projects, schemes and to address general water use and management issues throughout Ireland. This company offers excellent career progression opportunities. The successful Ecologist will report to the Project Manager as well as the other company Directors. Duties: The successful Ecologist will be a freshwater Ecologist with a good understanding of hydrology and water quality. As an Ecologist you will have a good understanding of the freshwater ecological aspects of ecological status as defined by the Water Framework Directive. You will have a good understanding of the kind of measures that need to be implemented to improve aquatic ecology in with the WFD objectives for good status by 2027. The successful Ecologist will need good experience and understanding of the main issues impacting Irelands freshwater ecology, such as the impacts from agriculture (nutrients, pesticides) but also from wastewater treatment in urban centres, as well as the impacts of abstractions, discharges and impoundments, and their removal, on freshwater ecology. Requirements: Level 8/9 Degree in Civil/Structural, Environmental Engineering or Ecology. The successful Ecologist should have 6+ years post graduate experience working in a consultancy environment. The successful Ecologist will ideally be a Chartered Scientist, Environmentalist or Ecologist.
