Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the company's appointed 'competent person' for EHS, driving a culture of safety excellence and zero harm in the workplace.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety standards, including ISO certifications (14001 and 45001), and promote continuous improvement in EHS practices.
  • Oversee the preparation and communication of risk assessments, ensuring timely reviews and the closure of actions.
  • Provide expert advice on compliance with legislative changes, liaise with regulatory bodies, and lead incident investigations.
  • Conduct regular site visits, monitor EHS practices, and chair safety committee meetings.
  • Maintain and update the Safety Statement and related risk assessments, ensuring appropriate safety equipment and training are in place for all employees.
  • Lead EHS activities for operational upgrades, support the acquisition of new equipment, and drive digitalisation efforts within EHS responsibilities.
  • Coordinate CSR initiatives and employee wellness programs, including mental health support, in alignment with the company's vision.
  • Manage and maintain ISO 14001 and 45001 certifications, supporting ISO 9001 compliance.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with EHS policies before commencing work on-site, managing safety documentation and permits.

Requirements:

  • Formal EHS qualifications with a passion for staying updated on industry trends and legislation.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing or similar environment, ideally in ISO-certified organisations.
  • Internal auditor certification for ISO 14001 and 45001 is required (9001 is desired).
  • Additional certifications in manual handling, first aid, mental health first aid, and energy management are advantageous.
  • Strong project management, problem-solving, and organisational skills, with proven experience driving results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and lead change.
  • Technical (engineering or trades) background is a plus.
