Environmental, Health and Safety OfficerOur client, established 25 years ago, is a main building contractor operating in Dublin with a reputation for quality, building excellence and customer service. Due to continued expansion, they are now seeking to appoint a qualified Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Officer to join the team. This role will be responsible for the delivery of EHS advice and support across the company and its sites in attaining legislative compliance and the implementation of organisational standards. Our portfolio covers a range of project types, including residential, educational, commercial, industrial, retail and healthcare.The role would suit a detail driven, ambitious and hard-working individual who wishes to progress their career in a dynamic environment.Key Responsibilities & DutiesThis position will lead the implementation of a professional, competent and knowledge sharing culture across the company ensuring that best in class environment, health and safety practices are planned, informed, implemented and maintained. The ideal candidate must have previous commercial construction experience in Ireland.The successful candidate will be responsible for the commencement of EHS management systems on projects and will require the completion of all necessary documentation, records and reports. Participation in site meetings and leading safety campaigns are integral to the forward-facing nature of the role. Successful applicants will have demonstrable initiative and capacity to engage with contractors and project personnel in the management and mitigation of EHS risks. As an office/site based position, this role does not offer the ability to work remotely.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with the senior management team in the implementation and drive of a positive health and safety culture within the business.Roll out standards to achieve ISO 45001 successfully and maintain certification.Responsible for maintaining annual Safe-T-Cert certification.Develop Site Construction Stage plans, traffic management, waste management, etc. with the project teams and monitor their implementation.Regularly review and update company Risk Assessments, Method Statements, Safe Operating Procedures, Health & Safety policies, and Safety Statement for relevant locations. Communicate same to relevant personnel once approved under management review.Ensure Site Managers and Supervisors are vigorously engaged in the audit process and all EHS management systems across the projects; and that all internal and external EHS reporting requirements are complied with.Conduct site safety inspections, audits and risk assessments as required and ensure that management personnel put appropriate action plans in place.Monitor and report on the collection, recording, analysis, implementation of actions taken and feedback provided to the hazards identified during the weekly inspection/audits through our online management system.Liaise with Site Supervisors to ensure that only approved subcontractors are engaged in activities, and review subcontractor Safety Statements, Safety Compliance, and any other relevant documentation.Provide support and guidance to Site Supervisors for the completion of Safety Induction Training for new employees, sub-contractors, and ensure documentary evidence is maintained.Ensure accident and incident investigations are properly carried out in accordance with Company policies and procedures to identify both immediate and preventative actions and underlying causes. Organisational communications to prevent reoccurrence are a key component in delivering on our commitment to the safety of all those impacted by our works.Manage employee training programmes and maintain CPD records across the company. Identify new and on-going safety related training requirements, and ensure mandatory training is reviewed and delivered on time.Compile weekly and monthly data as required, communicate the information to project teams, key stakeholders and partners.Contribute ideas to the management team for the continued development of the company wide Safety Management Systems whilst maintaining a professional image for the company in all dealings with public and stakeholders.Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of all health and safety matters relevant to the works and industry and liaise with appropriate safety managers, safety organisations and trade associations. Monitor legislative updates and ensure necessary changes are implemented.Provide a proactive approach to problem solving and to the various aspects of day-to-day health, safety and environmental management and deliver continuous improvement initiatives.Maintain professional and close working relationship with directors, operation managers, project managers, project teams and contractors.Qualifications:Relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.3+ years H&S construction experience within Ireland.IOSH membership.Instructor in Manual Handling, Working at Height and/or Abrasive wheels (advantageous but not essential).Skills:The proven ability to drive change, influence behaviours and be a champion of best practice.Excellent knowledge of Health and Safety regulations and practices with an ability to evaluate current and emerging trends in health and safety management.Strong working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Sharepoint, PowerPoint), and ability to embrace new technologies (online platforms and mobile apps etc).Self-motivated and proactive in a dynamic project environment.Strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritise and manage workload.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating a positive, enthusiastic and approachable manner.Full clean driving licence.BenefitsCompetitive salary.Performance related bonus.20 Days Annual Leave plus 10 Days Public Holidays.CWPS Pension Scheme, CWPS Sick Pay Scheme.Company vehicle.Contributory pension scheme.Tax Saver Commuter Ticket / Bike to Work Scheme. #J-18808-Ljbffr
