Job Description

Environmental Health and Safety Officer - Kerry
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the successful Health & Safety Officer will be involved in supporting production, maintaining utilities, developing projects, and ensuring EHS compliance.
The Health & Safety Officer will ensure company compliance with health and safety legislation, develop and maintain best practice procedures, ensure emergency procedures are in place, liaise with government bodies when necessary, and promote health and safety awareness at work.
The Health & Safety Officer will have a Diploma in Safety, Health and Welfare at work.
Qualifications in other H&S courses such as First Aider course are an advantage.
Knowledge/experience in ISO45001 Safety Management Standard is also an advantage.
Duties will involve:

Advise on health and safety issues on an ongoing basis
Provide training for employees e.g.
Induction, Lab Safety etc.
Carry out risk assessments on an annual basis
Perform safety patrols on a regular basis and document findings
Investigate fully all serious accidents and dangerous occurrences and document the findings
Ensure high levels of pest control are maintained on a weekly basis
Co-ordinate Safety Committee meetings, safety audits, manual handling training
Update safety rules and procedures as necessary.
Advise on and select appropriate PPE.
Report all serious accidents/incidents to the relevant authorities
Promote safety awareness at work
Ensure all contractors working on site receive the relevant training and adhere to site safety rules
Ensure adequate emergency procedures are in place e.g.
emergency evacuations, emergency response team, assembly point wardens etc.
Train employees on correct CPR technique and defibrillator use.
Maintain ISO45001 Safety Management System
Advise project members of health and safety requirements prior to and during a project cycle
