Job Description

Job Purpose and Scope The EHS Officer will be responsible for helping the EHS compliance, ensuring EHS programs and procedures are in line with Company, Site, Customer and Legal requirements. Health, Safety & Environmental implementer on site and actively promote a developing EHS culture. Support the EHS Manager in receiving external Audits and delivery of the EHS Internal audit programme. Implement and maintain internal health, safety and environmental standards and processes. Key site contact with subcontractors. Support EHS Manager on all health, safety, environmental and employer liability claims issues. Champion the need for improvements year on year in driving down accidents, management of near misses and in improving the sites employers’ liability claims performance. Responsible for driving environmental compliance, ensuring that all waste on site is processed properly on a daily / weekly basis and overseeing the efficient running of the waste water treatment plant. Responsibilities Responsible for implementing and maintaining the site EHS strategy and programs. Weekly reporting of accident stats and site performance / monthly reporting against group standard implementation to HSE Manager Helping to ensure full compliance with all Company, customer and legal requirements for Environmental and Health and Safety. Implement the site EHS vision in line with group strategy to ensure continued improvement with customer and legal requirements. Implementation of a EHS culture inclusive of all colleagues and contractors Develop and organize work systems to reduce health and safety risks and implement suitable adaptations to plant, machinery and processes. Monitor continuous improvement program, incorporating a range of communication vehicles e.g. newsletters, staff notice boards, H&S alerts, behavioral walks and discussions on a one to one and group basis. Support the implementation and Monitoring the site emergency response plan and crisis management plan. Implement and update environmental, health and safety policies, procedures, training and manuals. Participate in External and internal EHS Auditing when required. Liaise with 3rd party stakeholders – HSA, EPA, IBEC, KCC, Bord Bia when required by EHS Manager Communications and awareness of all environmental, health and safety issues through regular monthly meetings. To deliver EHS training as required. To support management of the accident and legal cases on site, in conjunction with the Occupational Health department. Maintaining Employer’s Liability & other records to ensure confidentiality and compliance with the Data Protection Act. Monitoring Area accident and incident investigation, reporting and analysis Support the successful Environmental management of the Naas site to complaint with the Environmental Protection Agency IPPC (Integrated Pollution Prevention & Control) license to achieve manufacturing site compliance. Waste Management - responsible for ensuring that the site in compliance with all Company, customer and legal requirements for Environmental and general waste. Ensuring that the environmental waste strategy and improvements are adhered to at all times. To work with the onsite operations team to plan and organize work to help reduce the waste streams on site. To assist with all environmental waste contractors coming to and from site. To co-ordinate with the onsite contractor to ensure that compactors are regularly checked and emptied. To complete daily / weekly / monthly waste streams reports. Management of Naas physiochemical waste water treatment plant with responsibility for compliance to local authority / EPA discharge consent discharge limits. Management of Naas site feed stuffs registration with the Department of Agriculture to comply with all DAFF requirements for an animal feed producer. Responsible for all environmental waste contractors To provide an internal service to stakeholders – ensuring that waste is moved efficiently and in compliance with relevant legislative requirements / Advise and support site management in relation to all legislative and regulative requirements with regard to all site EHS activities. Managing Roster for environmental team to make sure the site compliant with all legal requirements and replace absences. Other duties as determined by EHS Manager. Qualifications & Previous Experience Experience in EHS Management Environmental and Health and Safety degree or equivalent. Exposure to and knowledge of EHS within a high speed production and processing environment. Knowledge & Skills Be a problem solver – Essential. Good interpersonal skills – proven ability to work effectively on a team and with other departments. Striving constantly to raise the standards in EHS. Have the ability to identify and foresee potential problems from an EHS perspective, to identify solutions and implement in a timely manner. Strong communication skills. Well developed analytical, numerical and computer skills – Essential. Cost awareness / Uses resources effectively The role will require flexibility on a weekly basis to ensure that any EHS issues can be addressed. Positively influence people from all departments.
