An EHS Specialist is required by Careerwise recruitment to work with a Clare based biotech company. THE ROLE: Assist the EHS Manager and Site Management in the provision & maintenance of the EHS management system. Foster a culture of continual improvement with EHS program implementation. Record and investigate unplanned events, in line with their potential severity, and recommend actions/controls to safeguard the safety and health of staff and improve the reliability of processes. Continuous support to Departments in the identification of hazards and implementation of appropriate controls based of the level of risk posed, as part of the site risk assessment program. Work in partnership with Human Resources and Occupational Health to deliver health surveillance, advise on Occupational ill-health, disability, reasonable adjustments, and physical and mental wellbeing provision for staff. To perform internal audits & inspections of work activities on-site. To assist with the preparation for, and participate in, external audits from HSA, EPA, ISO Certification bodies etc. REQUIREMENTS: Recognised EHS qualification/certification (Level 7/8 Degree or NEBOSH Certificate). Specific Qualifications / commensurate experience in assessing Chemical, Biological, Ergonomic, Engineering /Maintenance / Human Factors risks would be an advantage. Experience with ISO14001 and ISO45001 standards desirable. Experience working in the Pharmaceutical Industry is desirable but not essential. Maintenance and operation of EHS systems including EcoOnline, Cardinus and Red-on-line.
