Electrical Design Engineer sought for a global leading automotive manufacturer/supplier in Navan, Ireland, to assist with next generation electric & hybrid technology projects.
Vickerstock is working in partnership with a global leading automotive manufacturer/supplier to assist them with the recruitment of an Electrical Design Engineer.
This is a new position due to continued expansion; you will be an integral member of the design team to assist with upcoming projects.
Responsibilities include:
- Developing all aspects of vehicle suspension, driveline, and powertrain systems for conventional and hybrid-electric vehicles.
- Training to master new skills specific to vehicle electrification and electrical systems.
- On-site commissioning of electrical systems, prototype hybrid-electric axles and vehicles.
- Determining vehicle propulsion and power distribution requirements and selecting appropriate components.
- Designing high and low-voltage circuits based on customer specifications using 3D or schematic modelling software.
- Designing wiring harnesses for conventional and hybrid axle and driveline systems.
- Preparing specifications of electrical systems to ensure that the installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
- Analysing vehicle performance in MATLAB, Simulink, Adams (or equivalent).
- Calibrating control systems and troubleshooting issues as they arise.
- Developing CAN bus and hardware signalling protocols to communicate with other systems on vehicles.
- Testing and validation of electrical and electronic hardware including axles, controllers, sensors, and actuators.
- Providing integration support and assisting customers with queries during vehicle development programmes.
Requirements:
- A strong background in electrical and/or electronic engineering with an interest in electro-mechanical systems vehicle engineering.
- Prior experience or education in MATLAB, Simulink, C or C++ along with an understanding of vehicle powertrains.
- A degree in Electrical and/or Electronic Engineering (or significant directly relevant experience).
- Prior experience or education in electrical power systems, power electronics, electric machines, programming, embedded systems and controls.
