Job Description

Hitachi Energy is seeking a Primary Electrical Engineer to support the Power Grids Grid Integration Business in Ireland.

The role involves electrical design works, coordinating engineering assignments, and ensuring compliance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience in utility, data centers, or general industry projects and be able to work independently with minimal supervision.

The role reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for design authority for an engineering discipline with medium to high complexity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Contribution: Acts as a technical lead, approves design deliverables, and reviews project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
  • Sales Support: Assists in preparing proposal/presentation of engineering projects/programs, including provision of bills of materials and estimated engineering hours.
  • Contract Management: Supports Contract Managers in issuing claims, provides quality solutions, and delivers within budget and contract.
  • Planning and Control: Creates work plans and cost estimates, reviews and approves scope, budget, and schedule for assignments, and ensures quality deliverables on time and within targeted cost.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management: Creates and executes strategies for risk and opportunity management, identifies and manages contract risks, and reports outstanding issues to management.
  • Customer: Works with the customer to shape and deliver solutions, seeks customer feedback, and attends project meetings to present specific aspects of engineering assignments.
  • Supply Chain Management: Collaborates with the Supply Chain function to ensure technical requirements are communicated and agreed upon with potential suppliers.
  • Technical Leadership and Knowledge Sharing: Represents the function in standardization committees, communicates with conferences, and acts as a technical specialist/adviser to senior management.
  • Processes and Tools: Reviews, develops, and documents quality standards, processes, tools, and techniques, and ensures engineering activities comply with required safety regulations and contractual requirements.
