STS Group employs the best people, invests heavily in training and education ensuring that the highest standards of health, safety and governance are applied throughout the organisation *This company is an equal opportunities employer* The T & D Estimating Manager will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates for MV / HV Transmission and Distribution Electrical Projects in the Renewables, Data, Pharma and Life Sciences Sector. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in electrical estimation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with estimating / project teams to ensure accurate and competitive pricing. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical systems, industry standards, and best practices and the ability to work with and motivate a team to achieve the accurate and competitive tender submissions. Key Responsibilities: Develop a T & D estimating department within the STS group. Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for electrical projects, including labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Analyse blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive bid estimates. Collaborate with clients, project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive pricing. Review and interpret project plans and specifications to identify potential cost-saving opportunities and project risks. Specify main components to conform to the requirements of each project tender. Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotes to ensure the best value and quality. Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, and project scope reviews to gain a thorough understanding of project requirements. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, materials, and construction methods to provide accurate and competitive estimates. Prepare and present detailed cost reports and bid proposals to clients and senior management. Assist in the development and maintenance of estimation standards, processes, and templates. Mentor and train junior estimators and support staff as needed. Other Responsibilities Oversee the preparation of the Electrical tender 'pack' from brief to final draft stage. Identify and evaluate Suppliers and specialist Subcontractors. Manage all tender related correspondence. Calculate minor material 'take off'. Prepare post tender/handover documentation. Attend tender related meetings. The ability to read, interpret and understand specifications and drawings. Confidentiality is essential. Qualifications / Knowledge / Key attributes * A third level qualification in Electrical engineering or Quantity Surveying or equivalent 'Trade' experience * A minimum of 5 years’ experience as an Electrical Estimator working on medium to large projects * Strong technical knowledge of MV/HV electrical systems * Experience of computerised estimating software. * The ability to think ahead, plan and prioritise workload. * The ability to work with the minimum of supervision. * Numeracy and literacy skills. * The ability to work as part of a team. * The ability to work under pressure and to meet tight deadlines. * Good communication skills. * A proactive approach to problem solving.
