Job Description

Position Discription Join our dedicated team in Generation Projects where we develop all power generation projects, including renewable and thermal projects, as well as managing overhauls and construction projects. Our projects range from major utility scale offshore and onshore wind farms, to solar PV and battery projects (BESS), to flexible generation gas turbines and synchronous condenser projects. We are looking for a Project Engineer in Energy Storage & System Services to join us on our journey to a Brighter Future. This involves working in partnership with Asset Development to develop projects as the business case evolves and progress projects based on risks and opportunities. Projects are expected to be developed from several sources, green field, brown field, re-powering, partnerships, and acquisition opportunities. While the Project Engineer may be rotated within Generation Projects to work across multiple projects and a variety of technologies, initially, you will be responsible for developing Battery Energy Storage Systems. Key Responsibilities Lead technical feasibility and assessconcept opportunities. Progress technical assessment, interfaces and works required for key project infrastructure and connections such as water and electricity connections. Support the tender evaluation process for the purpose of selecting preferred bidder(s) in line with the agreed contracting and procurement strategy for the project(s) Support the technical negotiations with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and/or Contractors for the purpose of finalising supply and construction contracts to enable the delivery of projects. Take responsibility for managing the project schedule and costs in line with project master plan and business case. Implement the contracting strategy, - specification preparation, tender evaluation, negotiations - to maximise business case opportunities, with Asset Development and Procurement Implement project management methodology, providing consistent delivery standards through identification and implementation of clear roles, decision rights, and ensuring the right mind-sets to deliver project success. Support Asset Development on getting projects into the relevant auctions: TSO Long Duration Energy Storage, ESB Networks Flexibility Program, Future System Services Arrangements Prepare reports, presentations, minutes, documents etc. as required in line with the project requirements. Undertake site visits as required. Manage third party consultants as required to support the delivery of project workstreams including overseeing the procurement process to select and appoint consultants. Experience and Qualifications Essential Minimum of 5 years' experience in an energy or related sector. Primary engineering level 8 degree in a relevant discipline and/or relevant work experience. Experience with project management processes & project delivery methodologies. Strong experience in leading the preparation of technical specifications. A good understanding of the commercial and technical aspects of project design and/or construction Excellent communication and report writing skills. Desirable Understanding the business case of the relevant technologies; Energy Storage. Ability to guidea project team to a high level of performance. Understanding of the PSDP and/or CDMC processes. A good understanding of commercial contracts, including management of same. Location Engineering and Major Projects, One Dublin Airport, Cloghran, Co. Dublin. This role may also involve some travel throughout the island of Ireland, visiting sites and potential contractors.
